As a parent of a twelve year old I often view my child as a one way channel of communication. I've been told this is more a biological issue than technology. That time would remedy this problem. The self absorbed world of a child would eventually be broadened by a wider understanding. Self absorption describes todays media and politics. This resolution will come through technology instead of biology. Past media has been hampered by a one way channel of communication. The forum of print, radio, and television funnel discussion from a select few to the masses. Community feedback is strained to support the views of those in charge. |

The internet sets forth an opportunity where author or journalist become one with the reader or viewer. Where those effected by a proposed solution obtain visibility with their point of view. Where collateral damage or efficient alternatives are identified by a member of the general public. Polls, competition, community dialog and refinement are viable with internet technology. Solutions can arise from an interactive process of public communication. Media and political self absorption will be resolved when we replace talking heads and static words with the dynamic interaction of an interactive media. |
